Memphis Parent receives eight awards at national competition

Memphis Parent magazine received eight awards at the annual Parenting Media Association’s meeting, a national trade convention that took place in Philadelphia last month. In total, the magazine received three Gold, two Silver, and three Bronze awards for editorial and design including a Bronze for Best Overall Writing. The awards are presented by the Parenting Media Association, and judged by journalism faculty at the University of Missouri. Magazine publishers from across the nation compete in the annual event.

Judges Comments: Thorough questions indicate this interview was very well researched. The setup successfully introduces the reader to the subject.

Profile: Sorting Out Eliana (March 2013)
Judges Comments: The writer effectively goes beyond the press release and shows us the journey of a college student and her parents as they cope with her bi-polar disorder and carve a life forward. An inspiring story.
