Keep Your Leather Soft
February 12th, 2010 by Jane Schneider
With all the wintery weather we’ve had this season, my good leather gloves have really taken a beating. After wiping snow off the car and building snowmen, they looked cracked and pitiful. To make matters worse, I dropped one the other day in the parking lot outside my office, just as the snow was beginning to melt.
Needless to say, my glove was a sandy, soaking mess.
Thankfully, I interviewed a costume designer several years ago who turned me on to a great product. It’s called Leather Dressing by Pecard. pecard.com. It’s made of all natural ingredients and when rubbed into the leather, helps to restore its natural softness. The dressing works on any leather product, from boots and satchels to gloves, even jackets. I simply rub the paste on to my gloves with a paper towel and let them dry. After 5 to 10 minutes, I wipe way the residue that hasn’t been soaked up by the leather.
Now my gloves are good as new. Snow in the forecast? Bring it on!
