Axe-A-Million
February 2nd, 2010 by Jane Schneider
Are you living with a tween boy? Then you’ve possibly been subjected to the host of personal hygene products middle school boys are using nowadays. Axe is popular at our house. My son often comes out of his bedroom trailing this pungent scent. I’ve been known at times to request he use it outdoors, so as to keep the noxious fumes from ruining my breakfast.
Evidently, I’m not alone. The Sunday New York Times Style section ran an artfully written article plumbing this evidently newsworthy trend — nytimes.com/2010/01/31/fashion/31smell.html
Boys at this age are becoming aware of their appearance and their bodies. This is a good thing. But combine that with clever marketing and what do you get but a ready-made audience of consumers. Well, I guess there could be worse things. Like using nothing at all to mask their delightful odor. Call me old-fashioned, but I still vote for a shower. Once a week. Regardless.
